Sparks from the Spa Newsletter – October 2018

ARRL LogoHello All,

I was a bit late with the September issue, as time flew by until it was too late. So if you think you somehow missed the September issue, don’t worry, you’re not crazy. Here is the October Sparks from the Spa Newsletter.

Our October meeting will be held at the usual place, the Wilton emergency squad. 6:30 PM is the board meeting, and 7:00 PM for the general meeting. Randy, KL7TJZ, a member of the Silent Service, will be our October 8 speaker.

While in the military he handled communications aboard submarines. He will talk about how subs communicate with the outside world.

This should be interesting.

Previous Hamfest vendors (2011)

Hello All.

I hope you all survived the recent heat wave.

I am attaching the July issue of Sparks from the Spa Newsletter. It has the results of the June club elections, and also a summary of our Field Day efforts.

I am also attaching the flyer for our 33rd annual hamfest. It is being held on Sunday, Sept 9 at the fairgrounds in Ballston Spa. Please forward the flyer to all your friends.

Summer Break

Finally, as you most likely know, July and August are dark months for the club meetings. Please do not show up for the regular monthly club meetings. Our next regular meeting is the day after the hamfest, Monday, Sept 10.

Be sure you come to the hamfest, there will be a test later!!

Sparks from the Spa Newsletter – April 2018

Hello all,
Is springtime coming soon? Let’s hope so. The Easter Bunny has come and gone, so hopefully, we will be seeing some greening up outside.

Attached is the April issue of the Sparks from the Spa Newsletter, I hope you enjoy it.

This coming Monday, (April 9), is our monthly club meeting. It is being held at the usual location, namely the Wilton EMS building, off of Jones Road. As usual, the club meeting is at 7 PM, and the business meeting is held just before that at 6:30 PM.

This month’s speaker is Mike Levy K2ZIP, and the topic will be:

Lessons Learned: Ham Radio and other considerations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands after Hurricanes Irma and Maria

The response to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma still serve as learning experiences for state and local leaders, disaster experts, federal government agencies, and the United States as a whole. This presentation provides advice to anyone with a stake in disaster response, relief, and recovery, including hams living in the impacted area as well as those responding from elsewhere to help.

Mike will be speaking from first-hand experience, as he went to PR to help with the relief effort from Maria. It should be an interesting subject, I hope to see you all there.
