About

Saratoga County RACES Association, Inc., is the amateur radio club of Saratoga County. The membership consists, however, of amateurs from many counties and states.

The organization was founded in early 1973 as an auxiliary to the Saratoga County Office of Civil Defense. The original group of amateurs starting the organization met as early as 1953.

The organization’s objectives were to support the Civil Defense Races Program, to support the Civil Defense Director, to support a repeater system, and to take part in regular “ham” activities. Funding was provided by the Office of Civil Defense. The association became self-supporting through dues and donations.
